Based Native American Nonprofits?"
Community Based Native American Nonprofits are
those tax-exempt nonprofit organizations created, run and directed by Native American people to directly provide services to Native American/Alaska Native people and communities.
While many other types of nonprofits may claim to benefit Native American people, ThreeHoops identifies "Community Based Native American Nonprofits" as those that verifiably are run by Native American people, and that often focus their their efforts on a particular geographic
area (such as a reservation or rural Native American community). Native American Community Based Nonprofits may focus their work on a particular interest of the Native American community. All Community Based Native American Nonprofits included in ThreeHoops' listings clearly demonstrate that they draw direction directly from the Native American communities and Native American/Alaska Native people they serve. Rather than being national or regional in scope these nonprofits usually focus their efforts locally addressing important issues in Indian Country in a 'community based' way.
